Client Success Story: Leon's Insulated Patio Upgrade
Location: Jimboomba
Scope: Insulated Patio Upgrade
Goal: Reduce heat, increase height and create a brighter, more usable outdoor space
The Challenge
Leon already had a patio installed at the rear of his home — but it wasn’t delivering the comfort or space he wanted.
The existing structure was an older flat-roof design. It sat low, felt enclosed and allowed very little natural light underneath. During warmer months, heat built up quickly, making it uncomfortable to spend extended time outside.
“I originally had an old-style patio there, just a flat roof patio. Very low, very dark — not a lot of light got into it.”
Beyond just replacing like-for-like, Leon wanted something better — a taller structure with insulated roofing that would dramatically reduce heat and improve the overall feel of the space. The goal wasn’t just aesthetic improvement; it was long-term comfort and usability.
Lifestyle Patio Solution
After reaching out to Lifestyle Patios, Leon worked with Rick to explore a smarter upgrade — not simply a new roof, but a more engineered solution.
Instead of attaching onto the existing guttering, Lifestyle Patios replaced the home’s original gutter system with their own heavy-duty, wider-profile gutter. This created a stronger structural connection point while improving water management and overall durability.
“Rick came up with this other idea — they actually replaced the guttering and put their own style on there. It’s super strong, super heavy, and a lot wider than my old guttering too.”
The design incorporated insulated roof panels to combat heat transfer, along with increased roof height to open up the space and allow more airflow and natural light.
Lifestyle Patios also managed all council approvals and associated fees, ensuring the upgrade was fully compliant and stress-free from Leon’s perspective.
The Result
The transformation completely changed how the space feels and functions.
The new patio is noticeably taller, brighter and significantly cooler thanks to the insulated panelling. Integrated downlights enhance the space at night, while a ceiling fan adds airflow and comfort during warmer evenings.
“I like the height of it, the insulated panelling. I’ve got four down lights in it — it’s just so bright at night, it’s great. And I’ve got a fan in there as well, which I can sit under.”
Installation was completed efficiently by a professional build team who impressed Leon with both their workmanship and speed.
“When they did come out and put it up, there was a young fella here — he was really good at his job. I was pretty impressed with his work. He didn’t take that long to put it up either.”
The final verdict?
“Probably the best thing I’ve done around the house for… forever really.”

For Future Customers
If you currently have an older patio structure that feels too low, too dark or too hot, consider:
- Is your current roof insulated, or does it trap heat?
- Would increasing the roof height improve airflow and natural light?
- Is your existing gutter system strong enough to properly support a new structure?
- Are lighting and airflow features included in your design?
- Who is managing council approvals and compliance?
An insulated patio upgrade isn’t just about replacing a roof — it’s about improving comfort, usability and long-term enjoyment of your outdoor space.
With thoughtful design and the right structural approach, an outdated patio can become one of the most valuable upgrades you make to your home.
